FORAGING TOURS and LEARN YOUR LAND WALKS

When we learn to recognize and know not just the plants, wildlife, and fungi that comprise our remaining wild places, but also the landforms, habitats, and ecological patterns, we strengthen our connection with the natural world and we enrich our mind, body, and spirit. Acorn Planning & Design offers a variety of engaging walks and classes catered to individuals and small groups that foster a sense of place and deepen our understanding of the places we love.
All Acorn Planning & Design services can be provided at different levels of detail to best meet the needs of clients.

Introductory Walks and Tours
A typical foraging tour or land walk takes place on the homeowner's property or a nearby park or conservation area. We also have several favorite sites that we are happy to share with clients. Walks are 1.5-2 hours in length and can encompass but are not limited to:

-
Identification and discussion of primary habitat types on site
-
Identification of plant, wildlife, and fungi species present on site
-
Identification and (where allowed) collection of edible plants and fungi
-
Strategies for increasing foraging opportunities and improving wildlife habitat
-
Developing an understanding of historic human influence on the landscape
-
Exploration of client's personal ecological interests.
Our walks and tours range from $100-200 depending on travel time. Additional people may join the tour at a cost of $50 per person. In some cases where a client is looking to develop a more detailed understanding of a piece of land (including custom mapping), AP&D can provide a custom cost estimate.
