WELCOME

Acorn Planning & Design (AP&D) is a consulting firm with offices in Newmarket NH and Scarborough ME. We provide in-person services throughout New England and virtual services for areas beyond. Under the umbrella of building resilience during dynamic times, we believe that a rich engagement with the landscape around us fosters health, stability, and well-being at the individual, family, community, and municipal level.

AP&D helps create and sustain this connection through a focus on building ecological literacy, increasing awareness of sustainable wild and perennial food systems, advocating for well-designed alternative energy implementation, and in some cases, preparing grants to leverage funding sources for these projects.

Our permaculture-informed projects range from small pollinator pocket gardens to intensive food production plans that serve as a hedge against disruptions to our normal patterns. Our "Learn Your Land" and foraging classes add layers of understanding to hikes in the local park, the Pemigewasset Wilderness, and places in between while increasing self-sufficiency skills and ecological literacy. Not sure where to get started? Just give us a call.

INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACH

Acorn Planning & Design draws from a diverse professional background that includes elements of terrestrial ecology, permaculture, botany, residential and commercial solar design, energy efficiency analysis, regenerative agriculture, and more to create resilience plans for our clientele.

A SPECTRUM OF CLIENTS

Acorn Planning & Design works with a broad cross-section of clients ranging from suburban homeowners and gardeners, to prospective landowners, established farmers, and small and large businesses, as well as municipalities, non-profits, and institutions with the common thread being an interest in becoming more resilient.

WE'RE WALKING THE WALK

Acorn Planning & Design is located on a 70-acre conserved, solar-powered farm in Newmarket, NH within the Piscassic River Watershed. In addition to resilience planning, we also practice intensive rotational grazing and habitat management, while nourishing ourselves from our perennial permaculture systems.
